With this in mind, the scope was clear from the start and Alonso Balaguer Architects and Associates Barcelona was asked to redesign Vizcaya12 with the end user as most valuable player using sustainability and smart technology as main pilars of the project.

The WELL certification is a dynamic rating system for buildings and communities that enables the characteristics of the built spaces that impact the health and well-being of its occupants to be identified, measured and monitored. It is a certification that places value on aspects such as lighting, temperature or even people's mood. .

RECYCLING

The design team dedicated an enormous effort to recycling the existing structures whilst using responsibly resourced materials with low environmental impact. In collaboration with our constructor, we have committed to recycling more than 75% of the demolition waste.

High energy-efficient thermal installations complying with the highest RITE standards including high-efficiency central boilers and a brand new TROX HVAC system securing optimal thermal comfort throughout all seasons that can be controlled by zoned thermostats accessible to all.

At Vizcaya12 the drinking water is of optimal quality and accessible, with drinking fountains less than 30 meters from all occupied spaces. The water is filtered and there are well-equipped bathrooms close to all employees. High-performance bathrooms, showers, and sinks reduce the water consumption by 50% compared to the ASHRAE 90.1 baseline.

The building has a minimal heat impact by design, using light-toned flooring in the interior & exterior while adding green exterior spaces for relaxing/work purposes.

Completely up to date with the latest technical code Vizcaya12 uses solar power to heat up all warm water used throughout the building in the most energy-efficient way.

CONNECTIVITY
